Overview

Lunaphore is a Swiss company that develops laboratory software and hardware for ultra-fast tissue analysis targeted treatments for cancer and other diseases. The firm has invented a unique microfluidic technology that lies at the core of its innovation. In 2023, Lunaphore was acquired by Bio-Techne, which helped them to lead the spatial biology market.

Challenge

The client required a reliable QA partner who could be able to test their innovative desktop software products. The cooperation had started with the LabSat® project, an easy integration of spatial biology into laboratories. 6 months later, since we proved our competency, the client came back to us to test their next product COMET, a custom hyperplex panels solution.

Our task was to create testing documentation for software that operates the laboratory device and test the product based on it. It implied that the documentation would fully cover product requirements and have a consistent structure.

Also, we had to make sure that the materials were standardized by the company’s rules and could be easily used in the future by other specialists, including those who were not involved in the development process from the beginning.

Solution

The working process featured four stages:

  • First, we had a meeting with the client’s development team. They presented the product, its functionality, and the way software interacts with hardware. We discussed the basic terminology used in the field of tissue analysis and specific terms used by Lunaphore.
  • Then, we analyzed product requirements for relevance, consistency, and feasible use scenarios in the testing documentation. The results of the analysis were presented to the client.
  • After that, we wrote the testing documentation based on the final version of the requirements and sent it to the client for approval.
  • Finally, we run testing based on the documentation created during the previous stages. Functional and GUI testing were the two key aspects we had to cover.

Results

The Lunaphore software development team received the documentation that helped to proceed with product development, including a detailed test plan, covering the steps to follow and detailed instructions.

After the functional and UI testing were done, we introduced the feedback on the testing process to help the client’s team release their products faster. These improvements included ways to unite some tests and make updates to the product’s UI. The client’s development team used our reports for quality enhancement and fixed the detected issues.
